Kinetic Green to launch premium commuter scooter in 6-8 months

"We will launch FLX in six-eight months. It will be a ground-up Indian product and will compete in the premium commuter segment," said Kinetic Green two-wheeler business president Pankaj Sharma.
Electric vehicle manufacturer Kinetic Green will launch a premium commuter scooter, FLX, this calendar year to take on other premium two-wheeler brands like Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Ola S1, Ather 450S, Hero Vida V1 and Ampere Nexus.

The FLX will be the fourth electric two-wheeler in the Kinetic Green portfolio. There are two other scooters — low-speed Zing and family scooter E-Zulu — as well as E-Luna in its line-up.

"We will launch FLX in six-eight months. It will be a ground-up Indian product and will compete in the premium commuter segment," said Kinetic Green two-wheeler business president Pankaj Sharma.

While the company is set to end this financial year with sales of around 35,000 electric two-wheelers, it plans to do nearly six times the number next fiscal to sell over 2 lakh units and then double that in a couple of years more. "We are currently number seven or eight in the e-scooter segment. We hope to break into the top four by next year and be in the top three the year after," he said.

In its earlier avatar, Kinetic group had achieved sales of around 4 lakh Kinetic Honda scooters and Luna mopeds in the 1980s. Luna has now been revived in its electric form.

"For e-Luna, we are targeting first-time buyers, those wanting to upgrade from ICE mopeds and e-commerce fleet operators. We have already tied up with Zomato, Swiggy and Dominos. Yulu has approached us to offer the Yuma battery swapping platform. That will make e-Luna even more affordable," said Sharma.
