Maruti Suzuki begins production at Kharkhoda facility

This new facility contributes to Maruti Suzuki's expanded production capabilities, bringing the total annual production capacity.

Maruti Suzuki India has officially commenced commercial production at its Kharkhoda facility in Haryana. The plant, for which the foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2022, will have an annual production capacity of 250,000 units and will focus on manufacturing the compact SUV, Brezza.

Maruti Suzuki's annual production capacity

This new facility contributes to Maruti Suzuki's expanded production capabilities, bringing the total annual production capacity—when including Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited, the wholly owned subsidiary of Maruti Suzuki—to 2.6 million units.

This development follows an earlier report from ETAuto in December, which highlighted Maruti Suzuki’s ambition to establish Asia’s largest gigafactory at the same Kharkhoda location.

The facility is designed to optimise investments and leverage advanced technologies, positioning Maruti Suzuki for greater global competitiveness. Maruti Suzuki’s focus is on smart manufacturing, sustainability, and overcoming challenges related to infrastructure and workforce reskilling.
