Tesla set to launch EVs in India by April

The company is also reportedly targeting a lower price point of around USD 25,000 (approximately INR 21 lakh) for the Indian market.
Tesla, the American electric car manufacturer, is reportedly planning to enter the Indian market this year, possibly as early as April, stated CNBC quoting sources.

The company is considering selling imported vehicles from its Berlin plant, initially focusing on sales operations. Job postings and showroom location scouting suggest preparations are underway.

This hiring activity follows a meeting between Elon Musk and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Modi's recent visit to the United States. This meeting has further fueled speculation about Tesla's imminent entry into the Indian market.

Tesla's potential entry into India has been anticipated for some time. Last year, Elon Musk postponed a planned visit to India, citing "very heavy Tesla obligations." This year, however, progress seems to be accelerating.

Scouting in India

Tesla has reportedly shortlisted two locations in Mumbai for its initial sales operations: Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and AeroCity. These locations are both near the city's airport and are known as business and retail hubs. Reuters has also reported that Tesla is looking at showroom spaces in both Mumbai and New Delhi, specifically in the Aerocity area near New Delhi's international airport.

The company has recently posted thirteen job advertisements for mid-level positions in India. These roles include service advisor, parts advisor, service technician, service manager, sales & customer support, store manager, business operations analyst, customer support supervisor, customer support specialist, delivery operations specialist, order operations specialist, inside sales advisor, and consumer engagement manager. The job postings on Tesla's website indicate that the positions are for the "Mumbai Suburban" area.
