This new partnership leverages the strengths of both Renault Group and Geely Holding, allowing them to expand their global reach and establish a stronger presence in the Brazilian automotive sector.Renault Group and Geely Holding Group have announced a framework agreement to expand their strategic cooperation. This involves producing and selling zero- and low-emission vehicles in Brazil through Renault do Brasil. As part of the agreement, Geely Holding will become a minority shareholder in Renault do Brasil, gaining access to local production, sales, and service resources. This venture aims to strengthen the existing partnership between the two companies and expand their presence in the South American automotive market.
The partnership is subject to definitive agreements and regulatory approvals. It builds on existing collaborations between Renault Group and Geely Holding, including a joint venture in Korea and the Horse project, which focuses on powertrain technology.
New vehicle production opportunities for Renault and Geely
The agreement will leverage Renault Group’s two advanced production facilities at the Ayrton Senna Complex in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná. These facilities will manufacture new vehicles for both Geely Holding and Renault, alongside Renault’s existing lineup. Additionally, Renault do Brasil will distribute Geely Holding's zero- and low-emission vehicles in Brazil.
Geely Holding’s investment grants them access to Renault’s established presence and commercial expertise in Brazil, a key market within Latin America’s automotive sector. For Renault, the move reinforces its industrial presence in Paraná and strengthens its brand positioning in Brazil.
