Hyundai Motor India has reported record pre-owned car sales through its Hyundai Promise program in 2024. The company sold 157,503 used vehicles, a 5.8% year-over-year increase. Hyundai Promise certified pre-owned car sales reached 35,553 units, a 23% share of total pre-owned sales and an 8% year-on-year growth.

The Hyundai i20, Creta, and Grand i10 were the most popular certified pre-owned models, comprising 55% of certified sales. SUVs accounted for 21% of certified pre-owned car sales. The Creta led SUV sales with a 13% share, followed by the Venue at 8%. The company also achieved its highest-ever exchange outreach of 20.4% in 2024.

The Creta's popularity continues in the pre-owned market, reflecting its strong performance in the new car segment. Both the Creta and Venue retain significant value, fetching over 70% of their original price even after three years. This retention of value makes these SUVs attractive options in the pre-owned market.

The Hyundai Creta stands as the most sought-after SUV with 13% contribution in the certified pre-owned segment, mirroring its unmatched popularity in the new car segment. SUV models such as the Venue and Creta fetch over 70% of its original price even after the third year,” said Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer of HMI.

Hyundai Promise attributes its success to addressing key challenges in the pre-owned car market. These challenges include transparency, trust, and reliability. The program leverages new-age technology and the established Hyundai brand trust to build customer confidence. Since its inception, Hyundai Promise has sold over one million pre-owned cars.

Certified pre-owned cars sold through Hyundai Promise come with additional benefits. These include a one-year comprehensive warranty for cars under seven years old. Cars between seven and ten years old receive a six-month engine and transmission warranty. All certified vehicles also include roadside assistance and up to two free services. These added benefits further enhance the value proposition for buyers.

Hyundai’s “Click-to-Buy” platform on hyundai.co.in facilitates online pre-owned car transactions. Buyers can browse certified vehicles, schedule test drives, and make purchases online. Sellers can request evaluations, upload documents, and view offer prices digitally. This streamlines both buying and selling processes.

The H-Smart App for dealers supports a transparent evaluation process. Hyundai Promise operates through a network of over 600 dealers across India.
