This achievement puts India on the global map for its manufacturing capabilities, emphasizing the nation's engineering prowess.Hyundai Motor India (HMI), which started exporting vehicles from India in 1999, has exported over 3.7 million vehicles to over 150 nations in the last 25 years. Backed on the strong performance, the South Korean auto major has maintained its position as India's largest passenger vehicle exporter.
In 2024, HMI achieved a total export figure of 158,686 vehicles. Its key export markets included Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Mexico, Chile, and Peru. The company also marked the export of over one million units to Africa. Exports of i10 and Verna models surpassed 1.5 million and 500,000 exports, respectively.
“Hyundai Motor India Limited proudly stands as the largest exporter of passenger vehicles from India on a cumulative basis. Having exported over 3.7 million units over the last 25 years, HMI has earned a significant amount of forex for the nation, while putting India on the world map for its manufacturing mettle," said Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of HMI.
Top models exported over the years
Models like the Creta, Alcazar, Verna, Exter, and i10 have gained international popularity, contributing to HMIL's export success.
The Verna also achieved a notable milestone, surpassing 500,000 exports. The company also introduced the Hyundai Exter to the South African market in 2024. The Hyundai Exter is the eighth Made in India model available in the South African market and is manufactured exclusively by HMIL.
