Rajasthan govt announces INR 200 cr subsidy to encourage buying of e-vehicles

Officials added that the number of electric vehicles eligible for the incentive will be as per the limit given for each category.
To promote electric vehicles in the state, an e-vehicle promotion fund of INR 200 crore was constituted under the Electric Vehicle Policy, said officials from the transport department.

Officials said a provision was made to provide reimbursement of state GST amount and a one-time grant from the e-vehicle promotion fund to buyers of electric vehicles with modern batteries. The reimbursement and one-time grant amount will be payable on vehicles purchased from Sept 1, 2022, and registered in the state.

The provision for the fund was made in accordance with the guidelines of Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric (FAME-2) vehicles. To get the reimbursement, it is necessary to purchase the vehicle from the state of Rajasthan only.

Joint transport commissioner Jagdish Prasad Bairwa said, "For the grant, first of all, it is necessary for the vehicle manufacturer registered under FAME-2 to get registered on the departmental portal."

He added that after registration and verification by the department, the manufacturer has to enter the model, type of battery, and battery capacity of the vehicle equipped with modern batteries (Advanced Batteries like Lithium-ions) on the portal.

"After this, the department will verify the model of the vehicle and other details provided by the manufacturer, and the vehicle buyers will be allowed on the vehicle portal to apply for reimbursement and claim of grant amount," added Bairwa.

Officials said,to claim the grant, the vehicle owner will have to enter the last 5 digits of the registration number and chassis number of their vehicle on the portal. Then an OTP will be sent to the applicant's mobile number through SMS. The vehicle owner will have to upload their bank account details along with bank documents like the passbook front page or cancelled cheque, then submit the application. The subsidy amount will be transferred directly to the vehicle owner's account.

Officials added that the number of electric vehicles eligible for the incentive will be as per the limit given for each category.

"Therefore, the concerned vehicle manufacturers, vehicle dealers, and vehicle buyers should ensure to apply on the portal as soon as possible to receive the subsidy amount," added an official.
