RTO to launch automated driving license testing in Jaipur this month

RTO Jaipur (I) has also demanded breath analysers from the transport department to curb drunken driving, especially commercial vehicles on the highways.
To avoid manual interventions in the issuance of driving licences, Jaipur regional transport office (RTO) (I) plans to start technology-based automated driving licence testing that will allow an applicant to get a licence only after the system gives the go-ahead.

RTO (I) Rajendra Shekhawat said, "For learner's licence, the whole process has been digitised, and applicants can apply for it online. We are in the process of starting an automated driving test track (ADTT) for a permanent licence. Earlier, there was manual inspection for a driver's test. Now ADTT will determine the duration of the vehicle driven by the applicant and their performance by a software. The system will pass or fail the candidates as per their driving performance." ADTT will be used this month itself after obtaining NIC's clearance, he added.

RTO Jaipur (I) has also demanded breath analysers from the transport department to curb drunken driving, especially commercial vehicles on the highways. To encourage staff and inspectors, RTO Jaipur has also started an initiative called ‘Star of the Month' and ‘Star of the Year', in which officials who catch the maximum number of violators of breaking traffic rules are felicitated. Challans amounting to over Rs 4 crore were issued by RTO Jaipur in the past four months.
