Eicher Motors appoints Siddhartha Lal as Executive Chairman, restructures board
Siddhartha Lal's transition to Executive Chairman marks a shift in his responsibilities, focusing on long-term strategy and governance. Vinod Aggarwal, while retaining his position as MD & CEO of VE Commercial Vehicles, will provide additional support to the EML board in his capacity as Vice Chairman. B. Govindarajan will continue as CEO of Royal Enfield while assuming the broader responsibilities of Managing Director for EML.
Other restructuring
S. Sandilya retired after a long and impactful tenure at EML, spanning over two decades as Chairman. Manvi Sinha also retired from her position as an Independent Director after serving for ten years. Ira Gupta will officially join the board on February 10, 2025. Arun Vasu will join the board on February 13, 2025, alongside the other leadership changes.
The restructured EML Board of Directors now comprises Siddhartha Lal as Executive Chairman, Vinod Aggarwal as Vice Chairman (Non-Executive), and B. Govindarajan as Managing Director. Independent Directors include Inder Mohan Singh, S. Madhavan, Tejpreet S. Chopra, Arun Vasu, and Ira Gupta.

Under his leadership, Eicher has navigated challenging times to become one of the leading commercial vehicle players in India and developing markets, while Royal Enfield became a global leader in mid-size motorcycles. We wish him the very best for the future. I would also like to sincerely thank Manvi Sinha for her invaluable contributions to EML over the past decade as an Independent Director. At the same time, we welcome Ira Gupta and Arun Vasu to the EML Board as well as congratulate Vinod and Govind on their expanded roles,” Siddhartha Lal said.
Key areas of development for Eicher
Siddhartha Lal elaborated on his new role as Executive Chairman. He emphasized a focus on shaping EML’s long-term vision, guiding strategic direction, and driving key areas such as consumer insights, brand development, and product innovation. He also highlighted his commitment to leadership development and mentorship within the company.
“After more than 25 years at EML in various capacities, including as the MD and CEO, I am now looking forward to the opportunity to reinvent my role. Along with taking on greater governance and board responsibilities, I will be deeply engaged in shaping EML’s long-term vision for the decades ahead - guiding the company’s strategic direction while continuing to drive consumer insights, brand development, next-gen technology adoption, and product innovation. Additionally, I look forward to dedicating more time to leadership development and mentoring, helping to nurture the next generation of leaders as we continue our journey of growth and transformation,” Siddhartha added.

B. Govindarajan reflected on his nearly three decades at Eicher Motors and expressed his honor and excitement in taking on the Managing Director role.
