450 electric, CNG buses to be launched in Jaipur: Min

This move is expected to ease congestion, and reduce pollution, and provide affordable transport.
The state govt is set to launch 300 CNG-powered AC minibuses and 150 electric buses in Jaipur.

Urban development and housing (UDH) minister Jhabar Singh Kharra informed the assembly on Wednesday that the initiative aims to bridge the city's massive bus shortage and enhance sustainable urban mobility.

Responding to a question by Malviya Nagar MLA Kalicharan Saraf, Kharra said Jaipur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL) operates only 200 buses, which falls drastically short of the required 2,400 buses as per ministry of urban affairs guidelines. The urban transport policy mandates six buses per 10,000 people for cities with populations exceeding four million, he said.

Kharra said tender process for CNG buses is underway, with technical bids set to open on February 6, followed by testing and further action. This move is expected to ease congestion, and reduce pollution, and provide affordable transport.
