And, that’s what Munich-based MDynamix wants to tap, with a new testing lab in Pune, set up as a JV with Automotive Test Systems (ATS).
The test lab is also the first one for ATS, in collaboration with an engineering firm. ATS recently opened an EV lab in Coimbatore-based Amritha University. The Pune testing lab will expand the capacities for MdynamiX, and a good part of its testing projects can now also be done in India.
"This lab facilitates faster development times for our customers and also provides the necessary tools within their reach in India," says Ramanathan Srinivasan, Managing Director, ATS.
Various systems including stationary targets, dynamic targets, driving robots, INS systems, data loggers etc. will complement this facility. Projects will be undertaken for customers in India and wherever required, using the facilities of MdynamiX in Germany.

"Our partnership with ATS and the opening of the MdynamiX India Center mark a significant step forward in our mission to deliver innovative and reliable automotive testing solutions to our customers. We are excited to bring our advanced technologies to the Indian market and look forward to fostering deeper collaborations with local industry leaders," says Prof. Dr. Peter Pfeffer, CEO of MdynamiX.
The new collaboration provides ATS with the opportunity to advance research in vehicle dynamics and ADAS, including on-road data collection, scenario creation and testing in SiL (Software-in-the-Loop), MiL (Model-in-the-Loop), HiL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) and ViL (Vehicle-in-the-Lop) environments.
MdynamiX sees the new centre to become a ‘cornerstone’ of its global operations, driving advancements in automotive testing and development. It says the collaboration with ATS will evolve with plans to introduce further test benches and driving simulators in the coming years.
Dr. Jinhuai Lin, Head of International Business, MdynamiX, says, "This partnership is essential for extending our expertise to India and tailoring our applications to the local market. I am eager to further expand MdynamiX’s global footprint and achieve continued success."
With the evolution of the Indian automotive industry, more opportunities are set to emerge in the country for firms engaged in vehicle engineering, testing and validation.
