CNH begins production of Trem V engines at Greater Noida plant

CNH announced the commencement of production of its new engine at its new Greater Noida plant on Thursday. The plant will produce the 2.8-litre Trem V engine (F28), designed for enhanced performance and efficiency across CNH's product line. The engine is specifically localised for the Indian market. Currently, the engine is 60% localised.

The new plant represents a substantial investment for CNH in India, further solidifying its commitment to the region. The 2.8l Trem V engine is a key component of this investment, aiming to provide a reliable and robust power solution.

Narinder Mittal, President and Managing Director, CNH India, said, "The launch of the 2.8l Trem V engine from the state-of-the-art Noida engine plant, underscores our dedication to delivering solutions engineered and manufactured in India. This achievement both enhances our product offerings and reaffirms CNH’s commitment to innovation and sustainable productivity. This highlights our strategic focus on producing reliable, efficient and environmentally compliant powertrain solutions that will set new benchmarks for the industry.”

The 2.8l engine is licensed to CNH by FPT Industrial, the powertrain division of Iveco Group. This collaboration underscores the synergy between the two companies in advancing powertrain technology. The compact design of the engine, intended for under-hood applications, aims to improve balance, reduce vibration, and minimise friction, ultimately leading to better fuel efficiency.

Greater Noida facility

CNH’s Greater Noida facility, spanning 60 acres, houses the new 7,000-square-meter engine plant. This facility is designed for scalable production, with a potential annual capacity of up to 20,000 units. The 2.8l F28 Trem V compliant engine is currently manufactured for construction equipment meeting CEV V emission norms.

CNH plans to expand engine production to agricultural equipment once Trem V emission norms are implemented in that sector. The plant utilises digital and AI-driven technologies. This includes an advanced operator guidance system and robotic component cleaning to ensure precision, efficiency, and high-quality output.

CNH has been operating in India for over 25 years. The company operates through brands like Case IH, New Holland, and CASE Construction Equipment. CNH Capital, the financial arm of CNH, and a Global Technology Center also operate in India. The company’s latest investment highlights a long-term commitment to the Indian market and its growth potential.
