Air India and Vistara Unite: What Travelers Can Expect Post-Merger

After merging with Vistara, Air India assures customers that the Vistara experience will continue.

Flights operated by Vistara will now carry a unique Air India code starting with “2.” For example, the flight UK 955 will be rebranded as AI 2955, making it easier for customers to book on www.airindia.com starting November 12.

Passengers can expect the same routes and schedules as before, along with Vistara’s well-known in-flight experience, including its menu and cutlery. The same friendly crew will continue to serve you.

With this merger, Air India is set to provide passengers with even more opportunities. Travelers can look forward to seamless connections to over 90 domestic and international destinations, plus access to more than 800 additional locations through codeshare and interline partners.

Existing members of Vistara’s Club will be smoothly transitioned to Air India’s Flying Returns program, which is evolving into a brand-new ‘Maharaja Club.’

Meanwhile, Air India is upgrading its fleet. New aircraft are being delivered, and older planes are receiving completely new interiors. Vistara’s catering services are also being extended to Air India.

The airline’s widebody fleet has been boosted with the addition of six A350 aircraft, now flying routes between Delhi and London and soon to New York.

Air India has also kicked off a retrofit program, with the first A320neo aircraft going for refurbishment in early September. A total of 27 older narrowbody planes will be upgraded by mid-2025.

The revamped A320neo will feature 8 luxury seats in Business, 24 extra legroom seats in Premium Economy, and 132 comfortable seats in Economy.

Passengers can look forward to modern amenities like portable device holders and USB ports, making it easier to charge your gadgets. The updated interiors will also include new carpets, curtains, and cabin panels, enhancing the overall travel experience while reflecting Air India’s brand.
