Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja Group, launched its new light commercial vehicle (LCV) named 'SAATHI,' a premium bus called GARUD 15, and an electric port-terminal tractor, eTIRAN, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi. The company aims to revolutionize the commercial vehicle sector with these new offerings, focusing on advanced technology, enhanced performance, and sustainable solutions. The unveiling took place on January 17, 2025.

Ashok Leyland introduced the SAATHI, a premium entry-level LCV designed to deliver superior performance and efficiency. It boasts a larger loading area, higher payload capacity, and better mileage compared to competitors. The company also highlighted its commitment to technological advancements and expanding its presence in international markets.

Features

The SAATHI is built with LNT technology, providing 45 HP of power and 110 Nm of torque. Its loading area is 24% larger than competitors, and it has a payload capacity of 1,120 kg. The LNT technology eliminates the need for AdBlue, simplifying maintenance. The vehicle comes with a five-year or two-lakh-kilometer warranty and is priced at INR 6,49,999 for the Fixed Side Deck variant.

The SAATHI aims to redefine the entry-level LCV segment by offering enhanced features and performance.

MD and CEO Shenu Agarwal highlights the company's focus on providing a comprehensive and competitive product in the entry-level segment. Ashok Leyland aims to address the needs of customers seeking power, capacity, and safety without compromise.

Other products showcased at Bharat Mobility 2025

Ashok Leyland also showcased the GARUD 15, a premium 15-meter bus designed for intercity travel. This fully built bus offers 42 sleeper berths, a large luggage compartment, and a gross vehicle weight of 22,500 kg. It incorporates advanced features like an adjustable driver seat, ADAS, and DMS for enhanced safety and comfort.

The GARUD 15 addresses the growing demand for comfortable and safe intercity travel. Its features are designed to enhance the passenger experience while prioritizing safety and driver comfort. The spacious luggage compartment caters to the needs of long-distance travelers.

The eTIRAN, India’s first electric port-terminal tractor, was another highlight of Ashok Leyland's showcase. Designed for port operations, it offers a customizable battery range of 180 to 350 kilometers. The eTIRAN features an air-conditioned cabin with a 360-degree view, hill-start assist, and safety features like ADAS. It aims to provide sustainable solutions for port operators while reducing the total cost of ownership.
