LeafyBus partners with AMU to launch electric bus fleet for sustainable inter-city travel

The collaboration highlights India’s increasing focus on sustainable transportation solutions, especially in the electric vehicle sector.
LeafyBus, an electric bus operator based in New Delhi, has partnered with AMU to launch its first fleet of 10 electric buses for inter-city travel. This move aims to accelerate India's transition to green mobility, with financing provided by AMU. The buses will initially operate on high-traffic routes, including the Delhi-Dehradun corridor.

Rohan Dewan, Founder and CEO of LeafyBus, expressed the company's mission in a statement: “At LeafyBus, we aim to make electric travel the norm across India. Partnering with AMU helps us get closer to this goal by making it easier for people to travel between cities in an eco-friendly way. Together, we can provide cleaner and more efficient transport options for everyone.”

The collaboration highlights India’s increasing focus on sustainable transportation solutions, especially in the electric vehicle sector. By focusing on high-demand routes, LeafyBus and AMU aim to reduce the carbon footprint associated with long-distance travel while offering a cost-effective transport option for passengers.

Leafy Bus vehicles

LeafyBus’ electric buses are designed prioritising passenger safety and comfort. Each bus is fitted with CCTV surveillance and real-time tracking, along with a dedicated "Bus Buddy" to assist passengers. To ensure the highest safety standards, the buses include Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Additionally, the interior is maintained to provide a clean and comfortable travel experience.

Beyond this initial rollout, LeafyBus has partnered with JBM Electric Vehicles (P) Ltd to procure a total of 200 electric buses. Of these, 50 buses are set to be introduced within the first 12 months.
