Tata Elxsi, DENSO and AAtek inaugurate robotics and automation innovation lab in Frankfurt

The lab is also open to researchers and students from the Frankfurt Innovation Center (FIZ) and startups in the Hessen region, fostering innovation.
Tata Elxsi, DENSO Robotics Europe, and AAtek Group have opened a ‘Robotics and Automation Innovation Lab’ in Frankfurt, Germany. The facility, inaugurated by leaders from the three companies, aims to advance robotics automation in healthcare, leveraging their combined expertise. The lab will focus on areas like personalised medicine, cell culture handling, and diagnostics, offering services such as product design and regulatory compliance support.

Accelerating healthcare innovation through robotics

The lab, located at Tata Elxsi's Frankfurt office, will serve as a research and development hub. It will feature modular automation demonstrations and focus on accelerating product development and simplifying maintenance. This initiative aims to address the increasing global demand for automation solutions.

The facility will showcase robotic implementations in cell/tissue culture, diagnostics, and sterilised environments. The lab will leverage AI-driven analytics to support innovations in automated cell culture handling, liquid handling, hospital lab automation, drug discovery, bioprocessing, and diagnostics.

Raghav Yesodha, Director, Healthcare & Life Sciences, at Tata Elxsi, said, “This lab marks an important milestone in our efforts to bring together the best of Japanese innovation, German precision, and Tata Elxsi’s expertise in med-tech, regulatory compliance, and automation. Together with DENSO’s robotics leadership and AAtek’s integration capabilities, we are poised to accelerate innovation and product development in healthcare automation, enabling our customers to stay ahead of evolving market needs.”

Tata Elxsi, DENSO, and AAtek aim to provide customers with a platform for co-creation, testing, and deployment of robotic solutions. These solutions will be tailored to meet specific regulatory and operational challenges in the healthcare industry.

A platform for innovation and co-creation

The lab is also open to researchers and students from the Frankfurt Innovation Center (FIZ) and startups in the Hessen region, fostering innovation.

DENSO being a leader in robotic technology and contributing towards the Robotics and Automation Innovation Lab offers valuable opportunities to develop fresh perspectives and cutting-edge solutions through ‘Crafting the Core’, driving creativity and accelerating progress to meet current market demands beyond traditional boundaries, the company said in a media release.

With plans for expansion in the USA and India, the Frankfurt lab aims to be a key player in the global robotics and automation landscape. This will assist customers in navigating the complexities of the rapidly evolving healthcare automation sector, the company added.
